Universal Meals Program

Free Breakfast & Lunch for All Learners

At San Carlos Charter (SCC), we want to ensure that every learner has access to nutritious meals during the school day.

California Education Code (EC) Section 49501.5 requires public school districts and charter schools serving learners in grades TK–12 to provide two meals free of charge—breakfast and lunch—during each school day to any learner requesting a meal, regardless of their free or reduced-price meal eligibility.

SCC is partnering with the San Carlos School District and its selected meal vendor, Revolution Foods, to provide meals to our learners.

🍎 Meal Service Begins August 19

Meal service will begin on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

Both breakfast and lunch are available at no cost to learners who request a meal.

There is no charge to families, regardless of household income or a learner's free or reduced-price meal eligibility.

🍽️ Cafeteria-Style Meal Service

Meals will be served cafeteria style this school year, providing learners with choices at the time of meal service.

Learners participating in the meal program will select the required components of the meal, which may include:

  • 🥛 Milk

  • 🍎 Fruit

  • 🥕 Vegetable

  • 🍽️ Entrée

A Share Table will also be available. Learners may place eligible unopened or uneaten meal items they do not wish to consume on the Share Table so that food can be made available to other learners in accordance with applicable food-safety procedures.
