San Carlos Charter (SCC), a progressive K-8 charter school located in San Carlos, is seeking a 1.0 FTE 2nd/3rd Grade Educator.
The SCC curriculum is centered on current research about learning and the grouping of students. All instruction is based on the constructivist learning theory and multiple intelligence theory, so children are engaged in hands-on, minds-on learning every day. Curriculum is created by educators and is structured around integrated thematic units. We are resource-based (no textbooks).

Salary dependent upon experience
10 months per year

Work with the other 2/3 team to plan, implement, and document curriculum in connection to California State Standards (Common Core and NGSS) and SCC curriculum cycles
Create a nurturing, inclusive, and responsive classroom environment
Engage in constructivist teaching strategies
Design and implement project/problem-based learning
Meet the developmental and curricular needs of all learners within a 2⁄3 multiage classroom
Assess learners regularly, track and report on their progress
Maintain records in an appropriate and timely manner
Manage and work closely with parent volunteers to implement curriculum
Collaborate with Special Education department on serving all learners which includes attending conferences, LST, 504, and IEP meetings
Participate in school events such as New-Family Enrollment Orientation

The San Carlos Charter is a K-8 school just south of San Francisco serving students of San Carlos and the Peninsula. We are a progressive school that emphasizes project-based learning and interdisciplinary units. San Carlos Charter is the oldest charter school in California and one of the oldest operating charter schools in the United States. Bachelor’s degree
Valid California Multiple Subject teaching credential
While experience is a plus, we will also consider new educators who are a philosophical match
English Language Learner Authorization
Must pass pre-employment background investigation including but not limited to employment history and criminal background check
Must provide valid TB Assessment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, and walk and involves walking on even and uneven surfaces and negotiating a 6” curb. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, crouch and/or crawl. The employee occasionally may lift or push up to 25 lbs.
Must sit on an occasional or frequent basis. This is done at the desk with forward bending from the waist, leaning on the forearms, and looking down which requires neck flexion. It is necessary to grasp and manipulate pens, markers, scissors, staplers, etc., either occasionally or frequently, depending on the day.
The use of office equipment including computers (mostly Macs), telephones, copiers, fax machines, etc. will be required. When working with equipment it may also be necessary to forward bend, squat, and/or kneel.
Hearing and vision must be corrected to normal range. Involves manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
